Together, we will heal.

Welcome to the Sound Sanctuary—a virtual space of hope, healing, and heartfelt support for those impacted by extreme weather events (EWE) and natural disasters. These sound and connection sessions are designed to offer a space of rest, respite, reflection, and restoration with others in community. There is much to do together, let's rest together, too.  â€‹

The effects of these events can reach deep into our minds and bodies, leaving us feeling shaken, overwhelmed, and disconnected. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Please accept my invitation to support you in the best way I know how... by spending intentional time receiving nourishment via sounds, community, and rest.

Why a Sound Sanctuary?

When we face the aftermath of extreme weather events, it’s easy to feel isolated, anxious, or overwhelmed. The Sound Sanctuary offers a safe, nurturing environment where you can pause, breathe, and find your footing. Our sessions focus on:

  • Community Support: Being with others who understand what you’ve been through can provide a powerful sense of connection and resilience.

  • Holistic Healing: We use sound/instrument modalities, movement, and breathwork to help release stress stored in the body and promote nervous system regulation.

  • Guided Reflection & Sharing: Each session includes time for personal reflection and optional group sharing, allowing you to voice your experience, be heard, and gain new perspectives.

  • Safe Space to Rest & Recover: This is your space to rest, feel supported, and begin the journey of emotional and mental healing.

As a long-time resident of Asheville, a graduate of UNCA, and 10 years of serving residents who are Deaf and Blind in all of the counties in the WNC region, I love NC and the people who live there. I am witnessing the devastating impact of extreme weather on the WNC, TN, SC, FL, and GA regions and the people I care deeply about, including my own family. This is personal for me, and I’m here to help you find support, healing, strength, and connection in this uncertain time.

My commitment to offering support stems from personal experience and deep community ties. Growing up in upstate New York, I remember isolating ice storms and blizzards that knocked out power for days in freezing temperatures. Living in Florida, I experience the anxiety and stress that comes with each hurricane season—watching floodwaters rise, worrying for loved ones, and bracing for the unknown. We know we have to whether the weather, but we don't have to do it alone.

Whether you’re struggling with the emotional aftermath of flooding, feeling numb, angry, grief, guilt, relief, gratitude, and all of the other layers of emotions... or just needing a place to breathe and regroup as you navigate this, Sound Sanctuary Sessions are an invitation to help ease the stress of it all.

Sound Sanctuary Sessions are:

*** Sound Sanctuary Sessions are NOT considered group therapy, though they may be therapeutic. They are community centered support, facilitated by peers, not therapists. If you or someone you love needs more advanced mental health support, please email me for a list of resources or call 911 for emergency situations.

This 40 minute protocol was developed using evidence-based sound healing tools of drums, tuning forks, bowls, gentle movement, and shared community connection to support wellness, resiliency, and your nervous system following Hurricane Helene.

How sound heals...

In recent studies, such as Christine Stevens' publication on sound healing during the COVID-19 pandemic,

highlights the power of sound to reduce stress and activate the parasympathetic nervous system—supporting survivors of health, social, and environmental impact in re-establishing inner harmony and resilience through non-verbal means of expression and release.

These findings reinforce the significance of using therapeutic sound and communal healing practices, like those offered during Sound Sanctuary Sessions, to create an environment where survivors of extreme weather events can process emotions safely, cultivate shared understanding, and ultimately, reframe their experience with compassion and hope. I hope you'll join us.

The door's open, come on in.

At Sound Sanctuary, we believe in the transformative power of coming together, sharing stories, and offering each other support. Healing can be a winding path, but with the right people by your side, it becomes one of courage, resilience, and even joy.

“Resilience is born from the deep sense of community and connection that arises when we come together to face life’s greatest challenges.” — Brené Brown
